5 Awesome NH7 Weekender 2015 Bands You Must Check Out

5 Awesome NH7 Weekender 2015 Bands You Must Check Out

SHARE
The happiest music festival spread its wings at different cities in India touring along with MotoSpotlight in the last two months. Yes, I’m talking about Bacardi Nh7 Weekender. I attended the festival both in Shillong and in Delhi, kid you not, the days were a gala fair, the crowd was fantabulous, the music was multi dimensionally crazy and it was truly the happiest gig under the sun.
Apart from all the rum and headbanging to the tune of your favourite Indie/Reggae/Metal/Electronic artists and the merch which excited the creative digger in me, FEW of the bands caught my sight and their music refused to leave my heart. These bands with their numbers left me asking for more and more and hey, sharing music is always cool so here’s 5 bands you must check out-

1. Spud in the Box
20B9EACF-5357-400F-BA3D-3FA00B9E38A3
I checked Spud in the Box in Delhi for the first time at the Dewarist Stage and aww hell they were untameable! With their alternative rock pieces and casual chit chat where they don’t allow their drummer to do a solo because ‘ nah that shit’s risky’, they are sure to keep you amazed, talking and grooving to their numbers. Watch their Facebook space for more.

2. Street Stories
3A67E04F-C620-4114-B5F2-508D7A1F6B83
This local north eastern band gets you in the mood. With that Indie fervour and new hits, they make you feel a plethora of emotions through their music. Performing their way through festivals- Nh7 was sure glad to have them there. Check them out here.

3. Neeraj Arya’s Kabir CafĂ©
C0D0C72A-E6E7-4FDA-9571-62832C1B98BB
The band at the Jack and Jones All Starr Jamm, performing Kabir’s dohas with a twist to it left me in awe. Rock, pop, reggae- you name it- they play it with the knack of performing lost poetry and as a result, you feel lost in a reverie. Hear them officially here.

4. Madboy/Mink
F934F817-7D10-46CB-B7CC-6A814AF74944
As perky as the name suggests, this hyperactive duo is worth the wait at the stage. They’ve already performed all over the country and ‘have you seen the alley cats’ is hands down my favorite song.  Go check out Saba( Mink) dancing to her peppy numbers making sure you have a good time. Check them out here.

5. Rehal Dalal
2AB818E0-9800-46D1-B5ED-4F7F961077A9
This musician fuses pop and jazz with a tint of soul making sure you keep tapping your feet and convulsing happy heartbeats and claps. Rehan is born and brought up in Mumbai, influenced by Jazz, and his compositions leaves you asking for more. This is his Facebookpage.

LISTEN: ‘MANIC’ BY MUMBAI BASED ALT ROCK BAND SPUD IN THE BOX - Wild City

‘Manic’ is the first single to be released from the band’s upcoming debut album 'Lead Feet Paper Shoes'.
Spud in The Box is a six-piece alternative rock band that has been making music since 2011. The Mumbai based band has become known for their catchy, accessible sound and charismatic live performances.
After years of performing live at multiple festivals (and even opening for Norah Jones) and gathering a young dedicated fan base, Spud In The Box is ready to release their debut LP 'Lead Feet Paper Shoes’. They had previously released an EP in 2013 called 'Attention Please' which was met with a very positive response overall.
The band has released a little taster of what’s to come from the LP with their tightly produced new single ‘Manic’ – a catchy, alternative rock tune with elements of pop that we’re sure will sound very rich when performed live.
“Our debut album, ‘Lead Feet, Paper Shoes’ might have been recorded in 2014, but it's an album that's been in the making since 2012. The past 3 years were an important time for us as people since we were going through important transitions in our lives and a result growing up, changes and coping with those changes ended up becoming a recurring theme on the music we made.
Since many of our personal favourite albums have been immersive epics bound together by strong motifs and themes that grow on you with every listen, we decided to take this recurring theme and run with it.” – Spud In The Box
You can listen to the whole thing below and buy it here on OK Listen for a very small sum. Spud in The Box is comprised of Ankit Dayal, Rohan Rajadhyaksha, Hartej Sawhney, Siddharth Talwar, Zubin Bhathena and Joshua Singh. Follow the band on Facebook for updates and SoundCloud for more music.
